MonAstery roadtrip
Jeff Weesner
The flock has growing losses. Two experienced dogs are on their way. Two favorites.
Rarely collared, on horse leads or cajoled into the truck; we’re driving almost halfway to their new life at a monastery in upstate New York.
It will be a great life for Aria and Hagrid. For a breed that typically lives 12 years, finding a bit of paradise at 4 and 5 is not too bad.
The place is also a retreat. It should be a great pairing as the pups have lived with several types of animals, are good with invited guests and are used to their space.
I’ll meet two Brothers today. From experience, the guardian dogs will have thoughtful caretakers and the flock will do well.
