Watch more women’s sports. Fortunately, I already like women’s golf more than men’s. College softball is as engaging as baseball with a lot less spitting. Women’s Soccer is world class. And there is so much more being built.
Invest in co-ed teams. Ultimate Disc is possibly my favorite live sporting event. I like others, but Ultimate in particular is high skilled, very competitive and moments after a match it colegial. Teams talk and players throw and start pickup games and get to know each other.
Stay in touch. This one should be the easiest. I give priority to visiting family and we all talk if anyone is on a longer drive. But, I neglect newsletters, online ads, the blog or quickly reaching out to farm inquiries.
Keep high quality meats accessible. Selling $6 ground beef or pork is at cost. Not a great business model. Even if we are not counting our time and labor, the cost of natural ranching is expensive. There is little that is efficient about letting livestock have free range to choose when and where to forage in woods and grasslands. But it makes a much better product.
Invest in the Farm. We need more shelter for the winters, easier loading, repaired feeders, roads and walking paths. We need a walk in freezer on a generator.
Learn more about scaling the business. This is tough as we do everything by ourselves. So, I have to learn to ask for help. We need to seek out partners like retailers and freezer trucks.
